Job Description

Position Summary:

This role will help grow the NBA’s digital operation in Europe, Africa and Middle East. As part of its responsibilities, the Digital Manager will contribute to the digital sales efforts for the region and will be involved in the marketing, packaging and distribution of the NBA’s direct to consumer products for EMEA. The successful candidate will work closely with other departments, both in London and New York including Marketing Partnerships, Merchandise, Communications and Marketing, to define and implement a fully integrated Digital strategy. The position will report into the Senior Director, Digital, based in London.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Director in building strategy, including PNL forecast to support business development decision making process
  • Identify, analyze, structure, and make recommendations on potential new growth opportunities for the NBA in the EMEA region
  • Build detailed marketing/communication commitment recommendations to maximize partners deal execution   
  • Coordinate all required aspects including finance, legal, technology, marketing and commercial to ensure the execution of a deal is accurate
  • Possess a rigorous understanding of the competitive landscape and global business environment
  • Experience analyzing and presenting all relevant market, industry, and company factors to support concrete strategic targets and priorities

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to research and model financial outcomes for multi years deals
  • Capacity to do strategic recommendation for partners deal activation (Social Media marketing tool as well as SEO/SEM and CRM software )
  • Strong negotiation skills coupled with a strategic vision
  • In-depth knowledge of integrated marketing and digital disciplines including audience analysis, targeting, digital production and online analytics
  • Team player with the ability to build strong relationships with partners and internal teams
  • Very close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle high pressure situations with poise, confidence and sense of humor
  • Proven ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Understanding of digital and Fan engagement metrics
  • Strong passion for and knowledge of technology, social media and digital marketing
  • An understanding of the NBA and love of sports will be an advantage

Experience Needed:

  • University degree with a major (or focus) in Strategy, Digital Media, Technology or related subjects
  • 5+ years of experience in the Sport and/or Media industry
  • Strong existing contacts in the digital industry, a plus if with Mobile companies
  • Commercial agreements experience and a deep understanding of contracts, particularly licensing arrangements
  • Willingness to travel
  • Training in a web analytical tool (Google Analytics, Omniture…) is a plus 
  • Multiple Language skills is a plus
