Therapeutic Use Exemption Manager

Group:             Science and Medicine

Location:        WADA Headquarters – Montreal, Canada

Reports to:     Medical Director

The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Manager will support the Medical Director and coordinate with other members of the Science and Medicine Department for all tasks related to monitoring of TUEs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor TUEs with a focus on medical content and compliance with the criteria of the International Standard for TUE (ISTUE);
  • Prepare quarterly reports of TUEs monitored, as well as WADA interventions and reviews;
  • Prepare regular reports for the Medical Director;
  • Liaise with WADA’s ADAMS team, other internal stakeholders and Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) to suggest TUE process and ADAMS TUE module improvements;
  • Participate in educational opportunities to improve medical knowledge, database management and analysis skills;
  • Maintain knowledge of WADA TUE Guidelines as they are updated and correctly apply these principles in the TUE monitoring process;
  • Assist Communications Department in responding to TUE-related inquiries.

Profile – knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Degree in Pharmacology and/or Life Sciences;
  • Experience in clinical medicine, pharmacology, and/or information technology an asset;
  • Database management skills including proficiency with Excel (knowledge of multivariate data analysis and statistical principles a further asset);
  • Proficiency in other programs within MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Knowledge of and experience in sport, anti-doping and TUEs an asset;
  • Bilingual English and French, additional languages an asset;
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Diplomatic and sensitive to needs of ADO stakeholders with a wide variety of mother tongues and IT skill levels.
