Commercial Affairs Executive
Commercial Affairs is part of the wider Media Rights department, it works in conjunction with the Sales team and the Legal department and takes the lead on all commercial matters.
TEAM sells the media rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League by tender in each market, the Commercial Affairs team manages the global tender process. Be it during the discussions prior to the sales phase, the preparation of the tender documents or the contracting/negotiations phase, the Commercial team is involved in all markets, at all phases. It is also the commercial interface with UEFA for all rights‐related issues.
You would be working in a team of four people and would report to the Head of Commercial Affairs. The main objectives of the role cover two areas:
Preparation of offer documentation for every market, compliance with internal/UEFA processes and management of deals through to closure. Play a key role in the transaction management of media rights deals from the receipt of offers, through to the co‐ordination of press releases. In addition, strong self‐motivation and a proactive approach is required to keep departmental overviews up‐to‐date, tracking the data behind all deals and market closings.
During the tender phase, assist in the preparation of deal recommendations taking into account the specific market dynamics and conditions. Responsible for financial analysis of the bidders and writing a basic report accompanying each recommendation. During the season, manage broadcasters’ requests to programming and contractual variations throughout the process.
As part of the wider scope of the role, you will also be involved in supporting the sales team in the day to day operations. This may involve working in conjunction with the research department, preparing sales plans, processing charts and high‐quality sales presentations; it is vital that you are flexible and willing to dive into different projects. You will also be responsible for preparing a financial status report each month.
A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a media, legal and/or financial role, ideally within the sports or broadcast industry, and a proven track record in project management are essential for this role. In addition, you have the following:
- Excellent understanding of the sports and broadcast industry
- Strong financial skills and attention to detail in partnership with the ability to appreciate the wider
- Ability to negotiate with expert knowledge and credible commercial arguments
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish relationships internally and externally at all
- Track record of working under pressure to tight deadlines
- Fluency in spoken and written English (mother tongue level)
