About us:

Bicycle NSW has been the peak body for bicycle riding in NSW since 1976. A community not-for-profit member based organisation with over 20,000 members and supporters with the mission of ‘creating a better environment for cycling’. Through advocacy, recreational cycling events and public education, Bicycle NSW aims to promote bike riding as a healthy, safe, enjoyable leisure and transport choice.

The role:

The Membership Manager is responsible for how Bicycle NSW grows and retains its membership. Reporting to CEO and working with the Executive Team to achieve agreed strategic objectives for the organisation, the Membership Manager will focus on:

  • Membership retention and growth (primary objective)
  • Communication (membership) and issues management
  • Brand Reputation Management

The role will leverage a range of channels across the organisational brand Bicycle NSW and event brands Spring Cycle and Gear Up Girl, including (but not limited to):

  • Websites
  • Social Media including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
  • EDMs 
  • Affiliated Events and Sponsors Channels
  • Media (radio, television, digital)

As a member of the Management team, this role will manage two Membership Admin Assistants; therefore the role will require a strong communicator and leader with exceptional well-developed interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of managing complex relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.

Your profile:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a membership based organisation, with demonstrated success managing and growing membership programs and building strong strategic partnerships.  

You will need to be resourceful, take the initiative on the Bicycle NSW strategic goals and work hard to achieve them.  You will have experience managing a series of budgets and being highly effective with your time and resources whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.

Experience in communications, brand management, project management and strategic marketing, preferably from within a sporting or similar not for profit organisation, will be looked upon favourably.
