Golf Management Australia (GMA) is the peak industry body representing Golf Club Management in Australia and, through its state associations, provides professional development and support for members. This includes providing relevant information and analysis to club management, providing networking opportunities for members, adding more value through services to the broad spectrum of club management and increasing the awareness of the organisation in the golfing fraternity.

Presently GMA operates under a federated structure, with each state association working independently. A proposal to change the GMA structure, including moving the organisation to a unified model, is presently under discussion. Support for the unified model is strong, but not unanimous at this stage.

The Board has agreed to appoint an Executive Officer (Interim) for a period of up to 6 months to:

  • complete the business case and implementation strategy for the unified model for the GMA Board and members to consider;
  • manage the day-to-day activities and services of GMA; and
  • complete a business case for the permanent office for the GMA.

The initial 6 month contract will appeal to individuals or consultants with experiences in member/service based organisations as well as prior experience in the management of organisations transitioning from federated to a unified model. A key part of the contract will be working with the Strategic Planning Director, key stakeholders and members to build the business case while alleviating the concerns from those that may be hesitant in the proposed model. At the conclusion of the 6 month contract, the final business case will be presented to the Board for a vote on its adoption.

If the unified model is adopted by GMA, an opportunity then exists for the Executive Officer role to become permanent, full-time.

The GMA Board is open to receiving interest from individuals, contractors and consultancies with the specialist skills to fulfil the initial 6 month contract.

The fulfilment of the initial 6 month contract can be managed from the contractor, consultant or individual’s office (within Australia). However, given the nature of the GMA business activities and membership, the GMA Board would prefer a Sydney/Melbourne location.
