Job Description

The Glasgow 2018 European Championships is a new multi-sport event which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin in the summer of 2018. More than 8000 athletes, officials and media are expected in Glasgow and Scotland with a potential television audience of more than one billion.

Funded jointly by the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council this new event will be organised in partnership with the international and national sports federations for each of the participating sports. The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will allow Glasgow and Scotland to continue to build on the economic, cultural and sporting legacy achieved by staging the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

The Image & Look programme creates a unique atmosphere through the application of Look Treatments and Wayfinding Signage that is consistent with the theme of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships brand.

Reporting to the Look Manager the Look Officer will be responsible for contributing to the development and delivery of the Image & Look programme of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships. The role will oversee the application and delivery of the Overlay and Look treatments across a cluster of venues; the scoping and management of the governance, budgetary and monitoring framework for the delivery of the programme, the purchase of any bespoke items for the purpose of Competition Venue Dressing; the installation, maintenance, transition, de-installation and disposal of Glasgow 2018 Kit of Parts and Bespoke items used in the Image and Look Programme.

This position will coordinate with internal, external stakeholders and Contracted suppliers adhering to strict design guidelines. The Look Officer will coordinate the development of application scopes working with a mix of contracted resources.

This is an evolving position and responsibilities may shift over time. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the inaugural edition of this exciting event as it makes its world sporting calendar debut. The successful candidate must be able to commit to evening and weekend working shortly before, and during, the Championships. The position will also involve significant travel across Glasgow and Edinburgh City. Restrictions on annual leave will also be necessary in the summer of 2018.

The successful candidate will be based at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow.
