Events & Regatta Manager - Rowing New South Wales
- State Sporting Organisation
- Varied events and competitions management role
- Attractive salary + motor vehicle
Rowing New South Wales (RNSW) is a not-for-profit, state sporting organisation responsible for the management and development of the sport of rowing throughout New South Wales. In addition to facilitating the annual programme for club and school hosted regattas, RNSW is directly responsible for a number of events including the State Championships, Sprint Championships and State Grade Championships. From these events and selection trials, RNSW selects state teams to compete at the National titles. NSW also plays host to the Australian National Masters Championships as they rotate among member states, and provides support to the Sydney International Rowing Regatta hosted by Rowing Australia and held at Sydney’s world class International Regatta Centre in Penrith each year.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Events & Regatta Manager is responsible for the professional presentation and delivery of regattas, events and activities that promote Rowing NSW. Working alongside the Regatta Operations Manager (who manages competition programming, results and onsite Regatta Secretarial duties), this role is directly responsible for the coordination of resources for the successful and safe delivery of RNSW regattas and events. The role also manages one full time staff member (Administration Officer).
Main responsibilities include:
- Manage all of RNSW’s Members, Events, Manpower, Volunteers and Officials
- Oversee the efficient running of all RNSW events and functions
- Implement all rosters and attendance at RNSW functions and regattas
- Supervision of Membership Services (duties of Administration Officer) to ensure quality and timeliness
To be considered for this role you must be experienced in the management and delivery of events including planning, implementation and evaluation, ideally from within a sporting context. You will have a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and activities at once whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail, delivering projects and events both on time and on budget. The role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships and elicit cooperation from a range of stakeholders, including volunteers. Tertiary qualifications in Event Management or similar as well as an understanding of the technical aspects of rowing regattas are desirable.
This role plays an integral role in the success and outcomes of rowing regattas and events at all levels, and as such presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the ongoing success of rowing throughout NSW.
NOTE: The successful candidate will ideally be available to attend the NSW State Rowing Championships in Penrith, NSW on 11 and/or 12 February as part of the induction process. For the avoidance of doubt, this does not impact on the start date for the position in a full time capacity.
