Job Purpose Summary

The Business Manager is primarily responsible for the Indian branch of deltatre. They will oversee the branch and have input in to business strategy and commercial activities, in conjunction with the Head of Business Development, to realise the business plan for India and wider APAC region. Driving and evolving existing processes around capacity management, employee life cycles and compliance necessities, the Business Manager will also ensure company processes and procedures are followed and all operational output is of excellent quality. The role requires a responsibility of company capacity monitoring and contributes to project profitability and project cost control in close coordination with the Head of Finance (UK) and the Operations Director (UK). Within the business support (RED), the role includes support and contribution to the Red Board.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Activities

  • Contribute to and help shape strategic direction, vision and business planning for deltatre India
  • Assist in new business development when required providing input around cost control and profitability
  • Assist the Operations Director in organising strategic sessions and business planning
  • Help manage the interface between RED (support operations), BLUE (business operations) and BLACK (business direction and strategy)

Business Operations

  • Provide input to project managers on how projects could improve profitability and achieve company goals
  • Ensuring that all projects have a Project Initialisation Document / Project Charter (and Project Plans for relevant projects) in place, and that the terms of this document are being followed
  • Actively monitoring all project delivery risks, acting as escalation point when needed
  • Active role in Project Control Boards and Overhead Control Boards
  • Participation in weekly co-ordination Blue Board via Skype
  • Define and monitor operational procedures and processes
  • To be accountable for all project delivery and to be across all projects and understand operational scope and delivery
  • Manage UK Blue resource and relationship
  • Specific client activity with key accounts
  • Monitor new sales leads and assist planning future resourcing/recruitment
  • Monitor of sales-operations interface
  • Responsible for reporting and delivery of KPI's
  • Responsible for ensuring the operation policies around disaster recovery and business continuity are evolved and implemented

Business Support Activities

  • Overview of all Legal activity accountable for the correct filing and legal function
  • Attend and contribute to Red Board via Skype
  • Support on HR policies and procedures
  • Identifying training needs and requirements for operational staff
  • Liaison with Head of Operations UK to ensure that deltatre India implements and maintains principles of the UK Quality Management System processes
  • Line manager to those accountable for
  • Accountable for accurate payroll delivery for part time staff

Person Specification


  • University educated
  • Post graduate business qualifications: Desirable
  • Project Management qualifications: Desirable


  • 5 years management/leadership experience (in India): Essential
  • Budgeting and capacity systems and processes: Essential
  • Quality management and improvement setting: Essential
  • Ability to manage and motivate employees: Essential
  • Presentation skills and experiencing chairing business meetings: Essential
  • Report writing: Essential
  • Working at a strategic level within an organisation for at least 2 years: Desirable
