The results of the SportBusiness Ultimate Sports Federations/Associations awards were published in April and with several of GlobalSportsJobs’ clients, affiliates and partners involved it brought about some very interesting results.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) landed the top award of SportBusiness Ultimate Sports Federation, in addition to winning three individual categories in the inaugural awards. FIBA also secured the Innovation category alongside the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well as the Events Calendar & Strategy award.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) came second overall, followed by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) in third place, the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) in fourth place and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in fifth. Thirty international sports federations and associations made the shortlist for the prestigious title.
The overall winner and remaining two categories were announced at the SportAccord Convention in Sochi at a breakfast briefing hosted by SportBusiness Intelligence. The presentation of the trophy to FIBA was preceded by a panel discussion with three of the awards judges – Iain Edmondson (London & Partners), Lars Vallentin Christensen (Wonderful Copenhagen) and Paul Dunphy (SportBusiness Intelligence).
The top 10 ranking for the SportBusiness Ultimate Sports Federations/Associations was rounded out by the ICC, International Paralympic Committee (IPC), International Ski Federation (FIS), International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) and International Judo Federation (IJF).
