“The RFU is a great place to be as you work with people who are passionate about the job they do and are determined to deliver a better rugby environment and ensure the game goes from strength to strength.”
I am a Senior Finance Analyst for the RFU and am the Business Partner for the Rugby Development Department, which is responsible for investment into the grassroots side of rugby. I manage a £31m budget and work with the Development Director and his direct reports in order to ensure the funding is being spent on projects to aid the growth of rugby.
The RFU is a great place to be as you work with people who are really, genuinely passionate about the job they do and are determined to deliver a better rugby environment and ensure the game goes from strength to strength. This passion is great as you feel like you belong to something.
The work is challenging, constantly trying to influence stakeholders with varying ideals to think in a different way to move forward. From a finance perspective there is constant process improvement and opportunities to develop my skills, these opportunities would not be available in larger organisations as you wouldn’t get the exposure to so many diverse aspects of a whole finance department.
