International Tennis Federation (ITF)

International Tennis Federation (ITF) is the world governing body of tennis. Founded in 1913, its purpose is to ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of the sport, delivering tennis for future generations in association with its 213 member nations. The ITF oversees the rules and regulations that govern international and national competition.

About International Tennis Federation (ITF)

The ITF is responsible for the worldwide development of tennis through its highly regarded Global Development Programme, its Science and Technical department which monitors equipment and technology, and its Officiating department which oversees the education, certification and advancement of officials.

The ITF oversees the professional pathway and organises over 1,500 weeks of men’s, women’s, and junior tournaments on the ITF World Tennis Tour, the main artery for talent to rise to elite levels of the sport. The ITF operates the ITF Beach Tennis Tour, UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour and the ITF Masters Tour. The ITF is the owner and rightsholder of the women’s and men’s World Cup of Tennis, Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup, the two largest annual international team competitions in tennis, and manages the Olympic Tennis Event at the Olympic and Paralympic Games on behalf of the IOC and IPC. The ITF upholds the highest standards of integrity and is a partner in the International Tennis Integrity Agency.


ITF Juniors
The ITF junior team competitions currently cover two age groups: 14 & Under and 16 & Under. Both events give young, elite tennis players the opportunity to experience international competition and the unique atmosphere of playing in a team for their country.

ITF Masters
The ITF World Championships is the pinnacle of the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour, providing competitive opportunities on the world stage for players from the 30+ to 90+ age categories at both team and individual level

Wheelchair
One of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world, wheelchair tennis is played in the same way as able-bodied tennis, with the only exception being that a wheelchair tennis player is allowed two bounces of the ball. The major tournaments for Wheelchair tennis is the World Team Cup which is the equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup and the Singles and Doubles Masters which are held annually around the world.

Beach
Beach Tennis is a rapidly-growing sport with a bold aim: to become the leading beach sport for professional and junior athletes worldwide.

The ITF Beach Tennis World Tour comprises over 300 tournaments in 37 countries, with the sport's flagship competitions including the ITF Beach Tennis World Championships and the ITF Beach Tennis World Cup, as well as Regional Championships in Europe, Africa and the Americas

World Tennis Tour (WTT)
The ITF World Tennis Tour provides entry-level professional tennis tournaments and provides a pathway between the ITF Junior World Tennis Tour and the elite levels of professional tennis. The results of ITF tournaments are incorporated into the ATP Ranking, which enables professionals to progress to the ATP Challenger Tour and ATP Tour, and ultimately the Grand Slams. The Tour offers approximately 550 tournaments across 70 countries.

World Tennis Number (WTN)
The ITF World Tennis Number is a single global tennis rating for all tennis players, regardless of age, gender or ability. The ITF and its Member Association have come together to share data and expertise to create a global community for all players. WTN will make it easier than ever to find evenly matched opponents and competitive opportunities wherever you are in the world, no matter your ability.
