Taranaki is a coastal and mountainous region on the western side of New Zealand's North Island. Sport Taranaki is a charitable trust, established in 1989, dedicated to the promotion of sport and physical recreation in Taranaki.
As one of 18 Regional Sports Trusts across New Zealand, Sport Taranaki services the 118,000 residents of the Taranaki Region including over 200 clubs, 60 schools and 38 Regional Sports Organisations. Sport Taranaki's programmes and services offer something for everyone, with a focus on more people participating in sport, leisure and active recreation.
Sport Taranaki employs 20+ staff who work in a variety of fields ranging across the various age spectrums. Three teams (Business; Capacity and Active Lifestyles; and Community Partnerships) work towards increasing the physical activity levels of individuals to help improve their health through sport and recreation.
The role of Chief Executive is to lead and manage Sport Taranaki to deliver the strategic outcomes as set by the Board. The Chief Executive will provide clear, decisive and effective strategic leadership to the Sport Taranaki Community, develop and maintain a spirit of cooperation, integrity and goodwill.
To be considered for this role you will preferably be tertiary qualified with significant experience in a senior leadership role, ideally from within sport or recreation. You will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record leading and developing teams and staff in successful organisations. With a strong track record in managing like-sized businesses, budgets and resources, your commercial and financial acumen will successfully deliver against strategic objectives whilst building strong networks and relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
