Mingara Aquatics offers an outstanding Swimming Squad Training program run by a small highly dedicated team of Coaches focused primarily on improving fitness, perfecting technique, and creating fun experiences catering to around 450 recreational and competitive swimmers across 6 levels incorporating a High Performance Development Program. Close to 100 swimmers represent Mingara at 15 meets across the season, having achieved 202 personal bests, 167 top 10 finishes and 80 medals.
Reporting to the Aquatic Centre Manager, the Head Squad Coach is responsible for leading the squad swimming program, acting as the lead coach for squad swimmers and providing leadership and mentor support to a highly dedicated team of six Coaches.
The role will design and implement coaching programs to suit all ages and abilities, and ensure the development and smooth progression of swimmers through the six squad levels. The Head Squad Coach will provide a fun, constructive and caring style of leadership, forming close relationships with swimmers and parents and building partnerships with the many stakeholders involved in the program.
The Head Squad Coach is expected to be highly motivated, strategic and inspiring, with great communication skills to positively mentor coaching staff, identify and develop talent, actively support swimmers at regular competitive meets, and effectively liaise with swimmers, parents and staff.
A clear understanding of the requirements of coaches, best practice in high performance coaching and athlete development pathways within the sport of swimming is required. A Silver licence coaching qualification is essential, along with significant swimming coaching experience, preferably at a national, senior squad or head coach level, achieving success at Age or Open level competitions.
