Founded in 1865, Bath Rugby is one of the oldest professional rugby clubs in the world. The Club has a proud heritage of success, winning 6 domestic league titles and 10 domestic cup titles in the 1980s and 1990s.  Bath Rugby was also the first British Club to win the Heineken Cup in 1997/98. Under new ownership since 2010, the Club is continuing to develop into one of the most successful clubs, both on and off the pitch.

Bath Rugby is looking for an outstanding candidate to take on the role of PR & Digital Intern, delivering quality in-house video content and assisting with all aspects of the communications department, which will help to significantly grow the presence of the brand and increase supporter engagement levels. The role offers an opportunity for personal and professional development within a dynamic and ambitious business at the forefront of professional sport.

Main Purpose

  • To deliver high-quality in-house video and audio content, across Bath Rugby’s website, social media channels and on Bath Rugby matchdays, to significantly grow the presence of the brand and increase supporter engagement levels. 
  • To support the Strategic PR & Communications Manager and PR Executive with the wider media and communications strategies.

Job Role

Digital content development:

  • Filming, editing and production of high-quality Bath Rugby video content
  • Work closely with PR Executive to compile video content plan, which will feed into and support the wider Communications strategy for the season
  • Develop video packages tailored towards different channel requirements and supporter audience profiles
  • Work with multiple departments within Bath Rugby, from players and coaches through to community team and Bath Rugby Foundation, to capture a range of engaging video content
  • Attend all home games to capture footage of media, marketing and commercial activity.
  • Assist with the running of matchday media requirements, where necessary, including acting as a camera assistant and coordinator for the matchday announcer
  • Assist in analysing impact – reach and engagement – of video content across the different channels
  • Create archives of all Bath Rugby video content
  • Create brand videos as required by other departments within the business 
  • Assist in compiling video content for the End of Season Awards Dinner, and any other events as required

PR and Communications

  • To compile, provide copy for and edit the matchday programme with assistance from the PR Executive. Including proof-reading, writing, collating and ensuring all sponsorship requirements are met.  Generation of interesting content and that all advertising requirements are met. 
  • To provide copy for the away matchday programmes, as requested by the opposition clubs.
  • To report on Bath United and Academy games, both home and away, providing live social media coverage and match reports after the games.
  • To assist in the provision of local and regional sport and consumer PR, to include focus on Bath Rugby Foundation, Academy and Community awareness content.
  • To report on Bath United and Academy games, both home and away, providing live social media coverage and match reports after the games. 
  • To support the media and press management on matchdays which includes, but not limited to; all writer and photographer accreditation, parking requests, provision of team sheets and the hosting of all media and delivery of a matchday PA script.
  • To assist in the implementation of the media strategy to support product launches of new retail ranges and membership events aligned to the Bath Rugby brand and supporter base requirements 
  • Any other duties that may arise, which are deemed relevant by the Strategic PR & Communications Manager or Senior Management team.  

Reports to: PR Executive 

Candidate Requirements

  • Experienced in filming, editing, and producing interesting and entertaining high-quality video content
  • Experienced using Final Cut Pro
  • Creative thinker who can react to current trends and generate new ideas
  • Experienced across all forms of social media 
  • Ability to work alone and within an organised team environment
  • Excellent copy writing, proof reading and communications skills
  • Experienced working to tight-deadlines
  • An enthusiastic and committed individual who will ‘go the extra mile’ to deliver results and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Preferably educated to degree level standard
  • Valid driving licence and access to vehicle
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evening and weekend work
