High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) was established in 2011 to lead the High Performance sport system in New Zealand.
The HPSNZ vision is to have more New Zealanders winning on the world stage and will achieve this by focussing on the key strategic drivers of People, High Performance Environment, Planning & Monitoring, Immersion, Innovation and Intelligence.
Reporting to the General Manager - Capacity and Expertise, the Innovation Manager is responsible for the optimisation and successful implementation of the HPSNZ Innovation Strategy. The role ensures the effective allocation of resources (expertise and funding) to maximise innovation impact on athlete and sport performance.
The role will suit candidates experienced in project management, leadership and relationship management, contract management (including IP) and the strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of innovation initiatives. These experiences may have been gained directly in high performance sport or in a non-sport environment. Regardless, candidates will need to demonstrate an understanding of the phases and processes involved in the innovation development cycle as well as awareness and understanding of the specialised operations (e.g. coaching, science, medicine, technology) within high performance sport.
